He received the MS and Ph.D. degree in Electronics Engineering with biomedical engineering as a major from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea in 1982 and 1985 respectively. Since then, he joined the faculty of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, College of Medicine, Seoul National University in 1985, and currently is a professor and the chairman of the department. During this period he has visited UCLA and UCSF as visiting scholar in year 1988 and 1994 specially for the collaboration in the PACS research. Now, he is also in charge of department of Biomedical Engineering in Seoul National University Hospital and running Advanced Biometric Research Center(ABRC) which is supported by Korea Science and Engineering Foundation since 2001 as a director. His research area covers broad area related to biomedical signals and information including biomedical sensors & measurement, biomedical signal processing, medical image processing, medical instrumentation, and ubiquitous healthcare. He is a member of Korean Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (KOSOMBE) and IEEE/EMBS. He is now working as the Secretary General for the World Congress 2006 on Biomedical Engineering and Medical Physics which will be held in Seoul in year 2006 from 27th August to 1st September.
